Teaching
Information
During the school year, I currently teach primarily on Friday on Saturday. Over the summer, I can often accommodate varied schedules. My teaching rate is $15 per half hour. I offer instruction on violin, hammered dulcimer, cello and piano.
Philosophy
I have both learned and taught using the Suzuki Method for violin. I love many aspects of Suzuki teaching, and incorporate much of those ideas into my teaching philosophy
In addition utilizing Suzuki ideas, I also incorporate many traditional violin teaching methods. Fiddle tunes often show up during lessons. I really believe in finding what works best with each student, and going from there. Occasionally, I will have a student who really wishes to study only traditional music (fiddling). Sometimes, I have students only interested in classical music. Often, however, incorporating components of both worlds may work best for keeping both learning and interest at peak levels! One thing I passionately believe: you are never too old to learn to play an instrument! I have students who are pre-kindergarten. Conversely, I also have students who have started their studies after they retired! There is no age limit for my studio! The most important thing, at any age, is that YOU want to learn how to play!
